Unit Still Photographer

Unit Still Photographer

Unit Still Photographer for Feature Films in Utah

In the world of visual storytelling, experience and adaptability are key. In my 15+ year career, I’ve had the privilege to hold many roles, each of which has honed my skills and perspective. From my initial work as a camera assistant at the American Film Institute straight out of college, to my current role as an award-winning commercial and nature photographer in Utah, I’ve seen nearly every angle of the industry.

My broad range of expertise equips me to capture the essence of a scene, distilling the emotion, tension, and narrative into a single, powerful image. As a Unit Production Photographer, I understand the importance of documenting the journey of a film’s creation, capturing the behind-the-scenes moments that tell the story of the dedication, camaraderie, and hard work that goes into every production.

My profile is also listed on the Utah Film Commission. If you would like to discuss what I can do for your film, please Reach Out.

After college, I ventured into the fast-paced realm of TV news, a crucible that quickly sharpened my ability to capture compelling narratives under pressure. The chaos of a newsroom, the unexpected developments in a story, the need to distill complex events into relatable snapshots – all these challenges transformed me into a resilient professional, able to adapt quickly and work effectively with diverse teams.

From the newsroom, my journey led me to the movie sets. The extensive experience I gained working alongside directors, actors, and crew members, deepened my understanding of the dynamics of a movie set. I learned how to blend in, silently capturing the essence of the scenes, while respecting the creative space of the professionals around me. My easy-going nature, honed by years of adjusting to the ebb and flow of sets, makes me an invaluable asset to any team.

Beyond the set, I’ve also demonstrated my entrepreneurial spirit. As a self-starter, I’ve learned to rely on my intuition and initiative to get the job done efficiently. I’ve developed an uncanny ability to anticipate needs and opportunities, which has been critical to my success as a commercial photographer.

Diversifying my experience, I’ve become the go-to photographer for many local stage and dance companies, capturing the fluidity and grace of movement in still frames. This work has deepened my appreciation for the unique challenges and rewards of different genres of photography.

Furthermore, as a proud Utahn, I’ve spent countless hours immersing myself in the breathtaking beauty of our state. I’ve trekked through its majestic landscapes, always in pursuit of that perfect shot that encapsulates the soul of Utah. My love for our state and nature photography has been recognized with the honor of being named Utah’s Best of State Nature Photographer three times.
